Lecturer, Professional Writing Program, University of Maryland College Park 2014-present

Teach the research, analysis, writing, and language skills that students will need in their lives beyond the classroom. Focus on born-digital and multimodal writing, including infographics and websites. Emphasis on stasis theory and Toulmin argumentation. Semester work culminates in final proposal project appropriate for students' intended professional fields.

Teach fundamentals of research-based writing. Focus on process writing and revision; emphasize stasis theory and Toulmin argumentation; design and assign multimedia presentations; use highly structured, yet flexible blended learning format; work closely with former students as Undergraduate Teaching Assistants. Average student evaluations for teaching: 3.36 /4.00

 

Instructor, Intermediate Writing, Utah State University 2008

Created syllabus, designed all writing assignments and lesson plans, organized course to correspond with the 2008 Presidential campaigns, emphasized Toulmin theory and Rogerian argumentation, used Blackboard extensively for discussions, peer review, and online classes. Average student evaluations for teaching: 4.3/ 5.0
